Ready to take on the challenge of Walkball Soccer? Find out what it's all about!
My Name is Paulo-Juarez Pereira. Born in Brazil, I have been playing soccer since I was a child. All through high school, college and graduate school, I played in various positions, including goalie. While attending the University of San Francisco, I played in the San Francisco Soccer League. I sustained a knee injury while playing soccer when I was attending graduate school in New York State. That injury led to a knee-replacement surgery in 2005, and as soon as I had recovered, I started playing again. Many of my ideas for Walkball came to me at the time of myrecovery from surgery. I now play and coach Walkball Soccer.
I havea BA in Philosophy and an MA in Linguistics. I speak Portuguese, Spanish, Italian and German, and he read French. I am a volunteer math and German tutor, an avid hiker, and I enjoy sailing in the San Francisco Bay and in the Florida Keys. I have three children and two grandchildren and live with my wife, Annie, in San Jose, California.
Initially I chose Sac State because it was convenient for me. I had recently relocated to the Sacramento area and I was excited to be back in California and to have a chance to take courses again. After enrolling at Sac State, I fell in love with the school, its campus, its academic community, and its cultural life. Coming to campus for me was something I looked forward to with great anticipation, even when my first class of the day was College Algebra at 8 a.m.! Sac State helped me redirect my life in many ways. First, I learned enough math to become a math tutor. I'm now comfortable in tutoring math through advanced algebra and trigonometry. After learning German, I was able to travel to Germany twice, and actually talk to people.
Learning German has given me a linguistic understanding of German terms that sometimes one finds in American literary publications, such as the term schadenfreude, which refers to a kind of I have done some research over the Internet on the topic of walking as a means to achieve physical fitness, and I was
